EvenSide — Community Guidelines
1. Our Mission
EvenSide exists to make it easy for people to play football — to find a game, find a pitch, and find teammates. These Community Guidelines ensure the Platform remains a welcoming, fair, and enjoyable space for everyone.
By using EvenSide, you agree to follow these guidelines. Violations may result in warnings, suspensions, or permanent bans from the Platform.
2. On the Pitch
2.1. Fair Play
- Play within the rules of the game
- Compete with integrity — do not deliberately cheat, dive, or manipulate play
- Accept referee and Match Admin decisions gracefully
- If there is no referee, resolve disputes calmly and fairly among players
2.2. Safety First
- Do not use reckless, dangerous, or violent play that could injure others
- Respect the physical boundaries and abilities of other players
- Warm up appropriately and play within your fitness level
- Report any injuries immediately to other players and, where applicable, venue staff
2.3. Honest Skill Representation
- Your Player Skill Rating (PSR) is designed to create balanced, enjoyable matches for everyone
- Do not deliberately underperform (sandbagging) or overstate your ability to manipulate your rating
- Participate honestly in post-match voting — do not collude with others to inflate or deflate ratings
- Vote fraud (coordinated voting, strategic misreporting) is a serious violation
2.4. Punctuality
- Arrive on time for matches. Late arrivals disrupt the game for everyone
- If you know you will be late, inform the Match Admin or group chat as early as possible
- If you cannot attend at all, cancel your participation in good time — before the refund cutoff or, on a match with a minimum-players setting, before the match is confirmed — so your spot can be filled by someone else
- Repeated late arrivals or no-shows will affect your fairplay score and may result in account sanctions
3. Off the Pitch
3.1. Respect and Dignity
- Treat every user with respect, regardless of skill level, background, or experience
- Do not engage in bullying, harassment, intimidation, or personal attacks
- Discrimination of any kind is strictly prohibited, including but not limited to discrimination based on:
- Race, ethnicity, or national origin
- Religion or belief
- Gender or gender identity
- Sexual orientation
- Age
- Disability or medical condition
- Socioeconomic status
3.2. Communication
- Keep all chat messages respectful and constructive
- Do not send abusive, threatening, or offensive messages
- Do not spam, send unsolicited advertising, or promote external services
- Do not share another user’s personal information (real name, phone number, address, etc.) without their explicit consent
- Keep match-related discussions in the appropriate match chat or group
3.3. Profile and Content
- Use an appropriate and non-offensive display name and avatar
- Do not impersonate other users, public figures, or EvenSide staff
- Do not upload offensive, explicit, violent, or illegal content
- Match titles and descriptions should be clear, relevant, and respectful
4. Match Organisation
4.1. Match Admin Responsibilities
If you create a match or are assigned as a Match Admin, you have a responsibility to:
- Manage the match fairly and impartially
- Communicate clearly with participants about match details, changes, or cancellations
- Use participant removal only when justified (e.g., no-show, misconduct, squad balancing) and provide a reason
- Not abuse admin privileges for personal gain or to unfairly exclude players
4.2. Participant Responsibilities
As a participant, you are expected to:
- Pay attention to match details (time, location, format) before joining
- Honour your commitment — if you join a match, make every effort to attend
- Follow any reasonable instructions from the Match Admin
- Leave feedback honestly through the post-match voting system
5. The Fairplay Score
5.1. Your fairplay score reflects your reputation within the EvenSide community, based on feedback from other players.
5.2. What affects your fairplay score:
- Positive: Commendations from other players (“good vibes”) improve your score
- Negative: Avoidances from other players (“would rather not play with”) reduce your score
- Neutral: Regular participation with no feedback has no effect
5.3. How your fairplay score matters:
- A healthy fairplay score means you are a valued member of the community
- A declining fairplay score may result in reduced match visibility
- A severely low fairplay score may trigger a review of your account
5.4. Fairplay scores are calculated automatically. You cannot see who specifically commended or avoided you — the system is designed to encourage honest, anonymous feedback.
5.5. If you believe your fairplay score is unfairly low due to coordinated action against you, contact us at [support email].
6. The Player Avoidance System
6.1. After a match, players may indicate preferences about future teammates through the commendation and avoidance system (“vibes”).
6.2. This system exists to help create better match experiences by allowing natural community self-selection.
6.3. Rules for using the avoidance system:
- Use it honestly — avoid players based on genuine match experience, not personal grudges
- Do not coordinate with others to collectively avoid a specific player
- Avoidances are anonymous and private — do not pressure other players to avoid or commend someone
- Abuse of the avoidance system (targeted campaigns, discrimination) is a violation of these guidelines
7. Reporting Violations
7.1. If you witness or experience a violation of these guidelines, you can:
- Contact us at [support email] with details of the incident
- Include the date, match, and users involved if possible
- Provide screenshots of chat messages if relevant
7.2. All reports are treated confidentially. We will not disclose your identity to the reported user without your consent, except where required by law.
7.3. We review all reports promptly and take them seriously. However, we also consider context and may request additional information before taking action.
8. Enforcement
8.1. Violations of these Community Guidelines are addressed through a graduated enforcement system:
Level 1: Warning
- For first-time or minor offences
- A written warning sent via the App or email
- The warning is recorded on your account
Level 2: Temporary Suspension
- For repeated offences or moderate violations
- Your account will be temporarily suspended (duration depends on severity)
- You will be notified of the reason and duration
- During suspension, you cannot create or join matches, send messages, or access social features
Level 3: Permanent Ban
- For severe violations, persistent offenders, or actions that endanger other users
- Your account will be permanently disabled
- Outstanding bookings will be handled according to our Cancellation & Refund Policy
- You will be notified of the reason for the ban
8.2. Immediate action: In cases of serious threats, violence, or illegal activity, we may bypass the graduated system and take immediate action, including permanent ban and reporting to authorities.
8.3. The enforcement level applied is at EvenSide’s reasonable discretion, taking into account:
- The severity of the violation
- Whether it was intentional or accidental
- The user’s history of violations
- The impact on other users
9. Appeals
9.1. If you have been warned, suspended, or banned and believe the action was unjustified, you have the right to appeal.
9.2. To submit an appeal:
- Email [support email] within 14 days of the enforcement action
- Include your account email, a description of the incident, and why you believe the action was unjustified
- Provide any supporting evidence
9.3. Appeal process:
- Your appeal will be reviewed by a member of the EvenSide team who was not involved in the original decision
- We aim to respond to appeals within 14 business days
- The appeal decision is final
9.4. During the appeal process:
- Warnings remain on your record
- Suspensions remain in effect unless overturned
- Bans remain in effect unless overturned
10. Our Commitment
10.1. We are committed to applying these guidelines fairly and consistently.
10.2. We recognise that disputes happen in competitive sport, and we approach enforcement with context and proportionality.
10.3. Our goal is not to punish — it is to maintain an environment where everyone can enjoy playing football.

11.1. We may update these guidelines from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the App.
